Sheryl Crow and James Blunt Concert 08-06-08 @ 2:31 p.m.
You won't believe the day I had yesterday. My friend Melissa and I had tickets to go see Sheryl Crow. Melissa's mom has been in the hospital for about a week and just yesterday they figured out what was wrong with her heart so they were going to do surgery. Obviously Melissa didn't want to leave her mom to go to a concert! Well, I should have planned in advance to maybe have a backup, but I thought it would work out. So at about noon I began calling, texting and emailing everyone, and I mean everyone that I knew to see who could go. To make a long story short at about 530 I think I was my friend Tracy said she just got my message and she'd love to go. So off we went! I should have known though after that long morning and stressing that something was telling me not to go.
Long story short, someone hit the other side of Dave's car while I was parked, apparently. Fortunately it was only the passenger mirror, but still. What a bunch of crap. Some drunk (most likely, I saw ppl falling down and getting into cars!) person gets to smash up our car and we have to pay for it. On a side note we got the $$ from the other guy from the weekend and now we just have to take the car to get fixed. But, let's discuss the good parts of the night!!
The concert was awesome! I am not a James Blunt fan but I am going to download 1973. I only got to hear two songs from him bc Tracy wanted to grab a drink and chill. I sort of wished we'd stayed to listen, but I thought we could hear from the outdoor bar/restaurant but we couldn't. Anyway, Sheryl Crow was so good and so much fun!! She did a bunch of her new songs from her CD Detours, which is pretty good. It reminds me a lot like her first CD, which is still my favorite of hers! And she of course did a lot of her hits, mostly all of them. She only sang Soak up the Sun from C'mon, C'mon, I wish she'd done a few more from that CD. I would have also liked to hear: Anything but down, Picture (we of course were all hoping for Kid Rock since we are in Detroit!), Diamond Ring and Run Baby Run. But overall I'm happy with what she did do:
God Bless This Mess, Shine Over Babylon, Love is Free, Gasoline, Out of our Heads, Detours and Motivation from her latest CD. Plus, Soak up the Sun, My Favorite Mistake, If It Makes You Happy, Every Day is a Winding Road, Leaving Las Vegas, Strong Enough, All I Wanna Do, First Cut is the Deepest, Can't Cry Anymore and Wildflower.
If you like Sheryl Crow I'd def. recommend seeing her in concert! And let's hope when I go to see Maroon 5, The Counting Crows & Augustana late this month that it goes a lot smoother. I think Rosie will have to drive!
