We had a great ending to 2007. What a great year. We had some ups and downs, but overall I can't complain...
Personally, I lost 25 pounds so that now I weigh even less than I did prior to having DJ! This is awesome, but I still want to lose another 10 pounds. I know everyone is talking about exercising, eating healthy and wanting to lose weight, I am proud to say that I DID IT. In 2005, the part of 06 that I wasn't pregnant and now in 07. I want to continue and stick to more of a plan for 2008, so that I can lose those last 10 pounds (maybe 13 after all that holiday-eating!) and get an Ipod. This is what I've been saying I'll reward myself with. It's good motivation! Plus, just the fact that I am happier to look at pictures of myself from this year, vs. a couple of years ago. Not to mention that I really do feel a difference in eating healthier. So, now that I've written this down, I'd better be ten pounds lighter this time next year!
For Dave and I, 2007 was a year of changes. Having DJ grow up before our eyes, the time and committment it takes each day, it wasn't always easy. However, looking back, the adjustments and hard days don't seem as bad. While we didn't do anything too major in 07, no major house renovations like years past or big vacations; we did make some time for some outtings with friends. Sometimes just making the time to get to the cidermill in the fall or the zoo in the summer is a great thing- and this year we did both. We also went to the DIA and the Science Center. We also took a trip to Irish Hills, MI, which was nice since I hadn't been there since I was a kid. We made time to play in our "pool" in the backyard, to lay out on a blanket and play with DJ in the sun, to eat a popsicle. We had a few BBQ's with family and friends, it was about time we had some of them over to see the house. Now we've just got to get my dad's side over next year!!
DJ is striving at 15 months. He's gotten so much more outgoing and he can do so much on his own now. It's so fun to watch him play with my brother or one of my cousins. He's really got his own personality now, even though he always did, it is showing more and more. I am sure 2008 will be full of more fun surprises where we is concerned.
There were small changes in 07, but big ones as well. Dave got a new job, which he is really enjoying. It's turned out to be a great thing for us, he has much more time here at home now for family stuff, or just to play his Call of Duty. My sister got married, so this year was full of fun wedding planning and events. Sadly, I was in the ER the night before the wedding, but I did sign myself out so I didn't have to miss the event I'd been waiting my whole life for! I may have been a little out of it, and it wasn't exactly how I expected that day to go (ie, I thought I'd be able to have a drink!), but it was still amazing. Also, both my siblings got a house, well, technically Bill got a condo. My parents are alone now after 32 years of living with kids, thus, being around my mom lately hasn't been a barrel of laughs. For 2008, I've decided that I will try to ignore her annoying tactics for attention.
Thinking ahead to 2008, I am going to steal my friend Dawn's resolution for SIMPLICITY. Meaning, I think it's time to be a little selfish this year. Time to make a little extra time for me. Sometimes being a mom you feel like in order to be a good one, you have to give up all of your time. I am learning this is not true and it is not even healthy or a good idea! So, I want to try and focus on being me, a healthy me, being happy, doing things I love to do. Life is too short to not make time for things you enjoy. It's too short to let the little things get to you. So I want to try and get rid of the negativity, the people or things that are toxic. It's sad, but 2007 has brought some of that as well, and I'm determined to not let that be a part of 2008.
