Hubby might be getting a new job!! To make a long story short, it would be with the government. Through some connections with my dad. This part is a little weird, since I always think that sort of stuff is annoying and wrong. However, it is for something he has tons of experience and schooling in. So, I guess it's not like they're giving him something he doesn't deserve.
Anyway, everyone keep your fingers crossed that it will all work out. They're doing a background search on him now, I guess since 9/11 they do more of that. After that it's pay negotiation....that will be the sticky part. Dave works a TON of overtime, about 55-60 a week, and that's been steady for 5 years. Now, we could live on his base salary, however, we don't particularly want to. We wouldn't have much to save a month, or to do extras with. We're hoping they'll meet us half way between his reg. salary and overtime. That would be a great raise and of course with raises he might be up to what he's making now in a year or so, withOUT the overtime!
This would be awesome for us, the job is much closer to home, and my dad said they rarely, rarely lay-off. And in this particular dept., within the next 2 years about 4 guys are retiring, so lots of security there, and room to move up too!
