This Sunday we have my cousin's HS graduation party. I emailed today to see if she needed me to bring anything. She said yes, chips would be a big help, since she's paying for everything herself. !!!
I could go on about my aunt and uncle. Or, mainly my uncle. It's just shit. I mean, compare my dad and his brother. Compare our families. They both had the same upbringing, had the same opportunities, but WHY are their families and lives so different? Why has my dad held the same job for over 20 years; while his brother has moved from job to job, mostly being fired or laid off. Why were my siblings and I given so many opportunities, and above all, we were ALWAYS taken care of, the necessities I mean. We always had good clothes, we were warm in the winter, enough food to eat etc. However, my mom used to get calls from my cousin's school, this same cousin graduating, that she came to school without socks, while it was cold out.
It's just not fair, and sometimes I feel bad about it. I wonder if my cousins look at us and what we had, or were given, like a college education paid for, a first car, nice bday and Xmas gifts....while they lacked all of these. It's so not fair. Just because their dad...I don't even know what. I don't know what his deal is. All I know is that he borrows from who he can and even asked my dad lately, but my dad said no.
So, now, she's graduating from HS and renting her own pavilion at a park, buying food, decorations, invites etc. and paying for it all. Sure, she didn't NEED a party. But hell, her sister didn't even graduate, so maybe she deserves one. In fact, my mom said she doesn't think this cousin EVER had a party, not even a 1st bday!
I wish I could do more than bring chips. I offered to make brownies, a salad etc., but she chose chips, I guess she has the rest covered. I wish we had the $$, I'd throw enough in the card to pay for the thing. Her parents ought to be ashamed of themselves. I guess I'll leave it at that.
