After two days of fighting with the insurance they did approve DJ. He was initially denied because he did not meet the requirements for how "bad" they consider a flat spot must be before it's considered medically necessary. I think they approved anyway though because the helmet was already made. I also pointed out to the lady that the flat spot may not be bad, but his ears are noticably misaligned. Either way, woo-hoo for us!

We got the helmet Wed. and so far so good! He's really been a trooper. He doesn't mind it at all, except when I take it on or off. It's kind of tricky to do, and position it correctly, so it's annoying for him as well as me. This week he gets a gradual break-in period. He actually isn't required to sleep in it until Sunday, but he's napped twice in it so far today. Basically every day they want an increase in the number of hours he wears until this coming Wed. he should be in it 23hrs. It's tricky to do with all his naps- he still takes 3 a day.

Oh, here's a pic. I took it Wed. night, it's not the best pic, but just so you can see what it looks like. Oh, the other snafoo (is that how you spell it?) is they ordered us the wrong design. THUS the purple helmet vs. the blue we wanted! It wasn't worth it to have them remake it to go through the whole fitting process again!

We even went on our first outing with it on today: walked up to the video store to get Kill Bill Vol. 2. (I can't believe I actually enjoyed Vol 1! I used to hate Quinten T.) Anyway, wasn't so bad. Although I really don't look forward to going out with him in it a lot. I hate people who stare and stuff.
