One of the best things that ever happened to me 03-14-07 @ 11:18 a.m.
I was just thinking how it has been a little over a year ago that I was let go from my ex-company. And I was thinking how it definitely was one of the best things that had ever happened to me.
Of course at the time it was horrible and frustrating and scary...but in reality I ended up getting a nice settlement-especially when they found out I was 3 months pregnant! I basically got the same pay as if I was working for 6 months, only instead I stayed home and slept in and did lots of preparing for the baby. I relaxed and read and had lunch with friends. I was able to do so much around the house before DJ got here that I would never have been able to do if I was working. I had lunch with the hubby and enjoyed the spring and summer warm weather all day in shorts and t-shirts. No skirts or pantyhose or work attire for me! Most fun of all, I finally watched the phenomenon known as Sex and the City, all six seasons!
When else in your adult life can you take a vacation from work/life like that? And if you're pregnant, it's the best time for it. A little "me" time before the time where you will basically give up "me" time forever.
I still have lunch and visit occasionally with a few ex-co-workers whom I do miss often. So, at times it can still be a little sad for me, because even though getting up and going to work can be mundane and stressful each day, nothing is like walking into a place and having friends to chat to throughout the day. People to share things with even if it's just to complain about the weather. Then again, missing out on the stress and drama at work...there's nothing better than that!
Ya....when I think of the time I was pregnant, that's what I think of: Sex and the City, leisurly lunches with friends, afternoon naps, reading a book on the couch with the baby kicking and lots of preparing and looking forward to the baby that was to come!
