Over the Rainbow

My life the last two months

Went to the neurosurgeon again today for DJ's head check-up. The one side of his head is still flat, hasn't gotten any better. So, now we just need to decide if we want to get the molding cap. He'd begin wearing asap and after the first week of gradually adjusting the time, have it on 23 hrs a day. Minus baths, or perhaps when we got out to the mall etc. I'm torn about it. However I lean more towards the side of not doing it, as I don't think it's noticable, nor will it be esp. when he gets hair in. Because basically you can only tell from the back of his head. But, Dave leans more toward the side of doing it, as long as it's covered by insurance, which I found out today that it was. So, we'll see. I'm not looking forward to the idea of doing it. But I also don't want DJ to grow up and resent that we didn't do it, if he feels odd that his ears aren't perfectly aligned!

What else is new?

My mom is crazy as ever. The baptism went well. My mom is over the moon about DJ, and finally it seems he's outgrowing his strong mommy attachment, and was an angel for my parents who babysat last night. I also had a girls night out Friday for a few hours and he was great for Dave! Awesome, hopefully this means more of that for me while not feeling bad about leaving him and also Dave not stressing about it. My sisters bridal shower is in about a month, it's pretty much planned, now I'm going to start getting phone calls from the 70 or so guests...I only wish my mom would chill, gosh she loves to throw a shower, but she gets so worked up!

Most of my spare time is spent exercising or cleaning. Most of my time in general is spent taking care of DJ. This weekend was the best I had in a long time! Friday I had lunch with my parents, then that night I went to dinner and for drinks with my sister and her friend. Saturday we went to dinner to a new Mexican place with our friend Dorian and then back here to play TriBond. I got made fun of because I am not the smartest apple in the bunch. :( (I still did well though, they just like to make fun of me.) I was up way too late, but DJ slept for 8 hours that night, the second time he's ever done that! Sunday my parents offered to babysit so Dave and I spent our mall gift certificates we got from them for Xmas. I got boots and clothes for DJ and had some $$$ left over. Dave got vitamins. Exciting, I know. Then we had yummy Chinese. (Needless to say that the rest of my "home meals" this weekend were Lean Cuisine to off-set my eating out!) My parents taught DJ how to play ball. Then we visited Dave's grandma.

DJ...is now eating cereal and loving it! His tummy is fine with it now, thank goodness. It's not helping him sleep more at night yet though. Darn. He's got two bottom teeth that broke through, but he's dealing pretty well. He was weighed today at the doc's and is 14 4oz. He is able to play on his own more now, he loves his exersaucer. He also loves any toy that makes music or talks. He's getting used to his teethers, but fingers are still his favorite. He's got amazing hand/eye coordination, especially compared to a month or so ago! He can figure out how to get nearly anything in his mouth, and if he can't, he cries! He has learned to enjoy his baths, he loves to splash his feet and try to grab them. I get soaked in the process. His cradle cap is nearly gone and his eczema has really improved, thanks to tons of lotion put on by mom. He loves to pet the kitty cats. He just learned peek-a-boo. His newest tricks are sitting up and standing, with just a little assistance from me. Those are two words he knows the meaning of (sit up and stand, also roll over).

I've managed to read 1 1/2 books in the last month while on the exercise bike. I saw the movie Because I Said So. I've been mesmerized by the Anna Nicole Trial, as well as disgusted in Brit. Spears. I am enjoying American Idol, even though every year I say it's my last of watching. I have to tape my favorite shows LOST and DIRT because they are on at 10pm and that's when I go to bed! I finally fit back into my skinny DK&Y jeans. My scars and stretch marks are fading. The last two months we've managed to get together with several of our friends and I hope to keep that up. Right now I'm looking forward to getting DJs 6 month pics and putting him in his bunny costume for Easter! Oh, and I of course enjoyed my paczki last Tuesday.
